EVELYN JOHN HOLTZHAUSEN, President of the Public Relations Global Network , co -founder and former CEO of HWB Communications (Pty) Ltd (Cape Town) is widely recognized as one of South Africas’ most effective reputational risk management consultants.
A former journalist, feature writer, columnist and newspaper editor in the United Kingdom and Scandinavia. He founded HWB Communications in 1997. Evelyn specializes in communications strategy development, crisis communications, and reputation risk management.
His clients have included The City of Cape Town, ADT Security, (TYCO) the specialist marine services company, Smit Amandla Marine, the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR), the Public Investment Corporation (PIC), SanParks and a number of “green” clients such as the Kishugu group of companies, (www.kishugu.com) specialists globally in Wildfire management.
Evelyn is a certified mountain guide for Table Mountain National Park (SanParks) a member of the South African Botanical Institute (SNBI) and the Mountain Club of South Africa (Cape Town section)
In his role as a reputational risk specialist Evelyn acted as media spokesperson for Grey Security (now G4S) when one of their guards was accused (and subsequently found guilty) of murdering Mrs. Marike de Klerk, former wife of former President F W de Klerk. He was media spokesperson for the North American owners of the Sealand Express that ran aground in Table Bay Harbor, Cape Town.
Evelyn is accredited to offer media training to assist clients to become be more confident in dealing with traditional and digital media. His course “Communicate” – compiled in conjunction with the former Professor of Journalism at Rhodes University, Prof Gavin Stewart – is offered as an integral part of a diploma course at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, (SAASVELD Forestry college).
